Sensory Connection Part 1 is a project looking at how textiles could be used to provide multisensory stimulation for dementia patients. As part of Louisa's final year she researched 'What is the future of Textile Design within multisensory stimulation for people with dementia?' for her dissertation. This research inspired her to consider how it could be used within her practical work.
One of the main findings from this research was that familiarity can help to comfort people with dementia and therefore the shapes and forms in this project were inspired by shapes that people currently with dementia may have had in their childhood such as Lego and Meccano.
